George Ugwuja is a Nigerian documentary filmmaker and impact storyteller whose sixteen-year career has carried hard-to-reach stories from flood-prone communities in Gombe State to conference rooms in Geneva, and from conflict-affected towns in Northern Nigeria to the halls of the United Nations.
With over 16 years of experience in documentary and impact filmmaking, George founded Capital Power Multimedia in 2019, an Abuja-based full-service film and multimedia production company, where he leads a team dedicated to telling Nigeria’s hardest-to-reach stories with honesty, craft, and purpose. Under his leadership, the company has delivered more than 50 projects for governments, international NGOs, and the private sector, working with organizations including the UN Women, UNICEF, the European Union, GIZ, Plan International, the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, the UN Industrial Development Organization, the Mennonite Economic Development Associates, the U.S. Mission Nigeria, USAID/DATA.FI, INTERSOS/ECHO, the World Bank, the Danish Refugee Council, and Nigeria’s Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on the MDGs.
His documentary and public-service work have addressed peacebuilding in Kaduna, Plateau, and Benue States; women’s participation in Northern Nigeria’s peace processes; community health and nutrition; environmental conservation under the UN-REDD programme; and the everyday realities of displacement and resilience across the country.
George also serves as Executive Director of HACDI Africa (Horizon Advancement and Community Development Initiative), extending his storytelling practice into direct grassroots advocacy across Africa. In 2026, he was appointed a judge for the Nigeria Prize for Creative Arts (NLNG).
